International Baccalaureate(IB)
IB stands for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, which is founded by IBO, an international diploma organization based in Switzerland. Its main purpose is to let students learn the ability to study, work, and survive in the world.
IBO does not belong to any country, so they studied the teaching system of global high schools and covered the core content into the IB curriculum. In other words, the IB curriculum can be compatible with different teaching systems, and has its own set of unique teaching ideas.
The Three Main Idea of The IB Curriculum:
- Cultivate creativity and activity
- Cultivate the ability to think independently
- Cultivate logical thinking
The IB course has its own independent study system in order to obtain an IB diploma. Students must have completed six courses to earn an IB diploma, including at least three standard-level courses and three high-level courses.
And the IB course results are valued by most Western universities, including Harvard, Yale, MIT and other top universities. However, because of school differences, some high schools only offer individual IB courses, in order to increase the competitiveness of students when applying for university, but because they have not completed 6 courses, they are unable to get an IB diploma.
IB courses not only require students to study English, science and even art professional courses, but also have a lot of time to complete their papers and participate in community activities, which is why IB students’ learning ability is particularly high compared to other students.
IB Course Scores
The score of each course in IB is 1-7, with a full score of 7 and a pass score of 4. Three points will be awarded for passing the three core courses, so the highest score (full score) for the IB International Diploma Program is 45 and the passing score is 24 (the minimum score for obtaining an IB International Diploma).
