IELTS (General)

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is an international standardized English proficiency test, which is often used as the English level evaluation test of every English speaking country and university.

Following the communication-based concept, the IELTS test is divided into four categories: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

As a result, it can evaluate the English level of a student, and because it is widely recognized by English speaking countries, more than 3 million people sign up for the IELTS test every year.

The IELTS test is divided into two categories, that is, Academic and General.

Among them, the IELTS General examination is generally faced with people who need to immigrate or work.

Compared with the Academic exam, the General exam will be more lean to the actual use of English.

For example, reading articles is closer to life, or writing topics related to returning goods or sick leave.

Students should note that the reading score of IELTS Class G is completely different from that of Class A, and fewer mistakes are allowed.I

没有达到要求的同学,也别灰心,在学校成绩够的情况下,也是可以被录取的,但是在踏入大学之前则需要去语言班进修一下。当然,也因为是学术性质的考试,A类的阅读以及写作会更加的困难。

IELTS Test Method

IELTS Courses

Curriculum

The length of the IELTS test is about 3 hours.

Listening

The test time is 40 minutes (including 10 minutes for transcribing answers). Examinees will hear four recordings, and the difficulty increases with the progress of the exam. These recordings include some monologues and conversations. Different English accents will also be heard in the exam.

The recording can only be listened to once, and examinees will be given some time to read the questions and try your best to answer all of them.

General Reading

The test is 60 minutes long. The examinee has four articles and is based on the materials of daily life in English-speaking countries.

The examination articles will be extracted from newspapers, advertisements, instructions and books to examine candidates’ ability to understand and use english. Reading also includes a long descriptive article rather than argumentative article.

General Writing

The test is 60 minutes long. The first part requires candidates to write a letter of about 150 words, regarding asking information or explaining a situation.

In the second part, candidates are required to write a short essay of about 250 words on a question or point of view. Candidates are required to express their views in vocabulary, grammar, etc.

Speaking

The speaking time is 11 to 14 minutes.

The form of the speaking test is a one-to-one interview. The examiner will have a one-on-one conversation with the examinee with the topics of daily life, make a certain length of description of required topics, and examine the ability of interaction between the examinee and the examiner.

Usually speaking tests may be arranged one day ahead or after the exam, and candidates are generally informed of the time in advance.
